Belonging to more than one hangar

One RampMates account can belong to several hangars – two flying clubs, or a club and a partnership. You sign in once and switch between them. The same picker switches between the aircraft inside a hangar.

Switch hangar or aircraft

1. Press the aircraft card at the top of the sidebar – it shows the tail number you’re on and Hangar: and the hangar’s name.
2. The picker lists every hangar you’re in, with its aircraft underneath. Press an aircraft to go straight to it, or a hangar’s name to open that hangar’s Dashboard.

An aircraft you aren’t allowed to fly is grayed out and marked no access. See Seeing an aircraft vs. flying it.

Switching to another aircraft in the same hangar keeps you on the screen you were on – from one aircraft’s Logbook to the next one’s. Switching to another hangar opens its Dashboard. The browser you’re using remembers the aircraft you last used in each hangar and opens it when you come back.

On a phone

Press the tail number at the top of the Dashboard, or the aircraft card at the top of the More tab. See RampMates on your phone.

On a computer, a hangar with more than one aircraft also shows the tail numbers as buttons above the Dashboard – press one to switch. A large fleet shows the first few and a count of the rest (+2 more, say); use the picker for those.

Join another hangar

An admin of the other hangar invites you by email. Because your email already has an account, the button in the email reads Existing account? Sign in to accept.

1. Press Existing account? Sign in to accept in the email.
2. On Set up your account, enter your existing RampMates password – not a new one. Leave the name box empty; your account keeps its name either way.
3. Press Create account. No second account is made: the new hangar is added to the account you have, and it appears in the picker.

Each hangar has its own…

• Role. You can be an admin in one hangar and a pilot in another. The sidebar shows your role in the hangar you’re in, under your name. See Roles.
• Notifications. Set them up once per hangar. See Choose what you’re notified about.
• Aircraft access. Each hangar’s admin decides which of its aircraft you may fly.

Starting a new hangar

If you’re an admin of a hangar, the picker also offers New hangar. Give it a name and press Create hangar; you’re its first admin. See Hangar admins: set up your hangar.

If something goes wrong

• “That email already has a RampMates account – sign in with its password to accept”. The password didn’t match your account’s. If you’ve forgotten it, reset it first, then open the invite again.
• “Token has expired”. The invite is more than 7 days old. Ask the hangar’s admin to send a new one.
• “This invite has already been used”. You’re already in that hangar – look for it in the picker. If it isn’t there, that hangar’s admin has deactivated you; ask them to reactivate you.
• On a computer, the aircraft card doesn’t open. There’s nothing to switch to: you’re in one hangar, it has one aircraft, and you aren’t an admin.
• “No aircraft available”. You’re in this hangar but can’t fly any of its aircraft yet; the screen lists them so you can ask its admin for access to one. If you’re in other hangars, the hangar list at the top of that screen takes you back to them. See I can’t see an aircraft.
