Hangar admins: set up your hangar

RampMates sets up your hangar and makes you its admin. From there, getting a club or partnership flying takes five steps. Do them in this order: members can’t do much until there’s an aircraft to fly.

1. Accept the invite

The email is You’re invited to Hangar: … on RampMates. Press Set up your account, choose a password of at least 8 characters and press Create account.

If the hangar was set up for an email that already has a RampMates account, no invite is sent: sign in as usual and the new hangar is already in your aircraft and hangar picker. An invite from another hangar admin is different – its button reads Existing account? Sign in to accept, and on the page it opens you type your existing password and press Create account.

2. Add your first aircraft

A new hangar opens on No aircraft yet, with the form to add one.

1. Type the Tail number, and the Make/model if you like.
2. Enter the aircraft’s Current hobbs exactly as the meter reads now – the first flight counts from it.
3. Check Track tach time if the aircraft has a tach meter you want logged, and enter its Current tach.
4. Press Add aircraft.

More aircraft come later from Hangar settings > Fleet: press Add aircraft, fill in the same form and press Add aircraft. RampMates then shows what the aircraft adds to your monthly bill (or that it’s included, with no charge) and waits: press Add aircraft again to add it, or Cancel. 3. Set up the aircraft

On Hangar settings > Fleet, press the aircraft’s tail number to open its settings: how a flight is priced, the oil-change interval, its home airport and hours. See Aircraft settings.

Then add the inspections it needs (annual, ELT and so on): open Inspections and press New type. See Inspections.

4. Invite your members

1. Open Hangar settings and choose the Members tab.
2. Under Invite someone, type their email and pick a Role: admin, pilot or mechanic.
3. Press Send invite. RampMates confirms with Invite sent to ….

Each invite link works for 7 days. See Invite members and set roles and Roles.

5. Choose who may fly which aircraft

Everyone may fly every aircraft until you say otherwise. To limit someone, open the menu on their row in Members and choose Aircraft access…. See Choose who can fly which aircraft.

If something goes wrong

• “… is already in this hangar” when you invite. They’re a member already; nothing to send.
• “… has a deactivated membership in this hangar – reactivate it instead”. Open the menu on their row in Members and choose Reactivate.
• “… is disabled – ask the platform admin to re-enable it” when you invite. That person’s RampMates account is switched off; only RampMates support can switch it back on.
• “An aircraft with this tail number already exists” when you add one. Each tail number can be on RampMates only once, across every hangar. Check what you typed; if it’s right, the aircraft is already on RampMates – email support.
• “… is capped at … aircraft” when you add one. RampMates caps every hangar’s fleet size as a safety limit (25 aircraft unless it’s been raised). Email support and it can be raised.
• An invite didn’t arrive. See I didn’t get an email.
