Choose what you're notified about

For: Pilots · Hangar admins · Mechanics

Each kind of notification RampMates sends has its own switch, for email and for push. Your choices are yours alone – nobody else, not even a hangar admin, can change them.

  1. Press Notifications near the bottom of the sidebar. On a phone, it’s in the More tab.
  2. Turn each subject’s Push and Email switches on or off.
  3. Press Save. Saved. appears beside the button.
The Notifications page: the Operations group, with Push and Email switches for New squawks, Maintenance and inspections, Flights logged and Daily summary, and the Save buttonThe Notifications page: the Operations group, with Push and Email switches for New squawks, Maintenance and inspections, Flights logged and Daily summary, and the Save button

To turn a whole column of one group on or off at once – all scheduling push, say – press that group’s Push or Email heading, then Save.

Everything starts on, except Anyone’s bookings. A notification about one aircraft only reaches you if you’re allowed to fly that aircraft.

Operations – what the aircraft in this hangar are doing.

  • New squawks – someone other than you writes up a squawk, or resolves one.
  • Maintenance and inspections – an oil change or an inspection is coming up or overdue.
  • Flights logged – someone other than you logs a flight.
  • Daily summary – one message the next day covering the whole hangar, sent only when something happened.

Scheduling – your bookings, and the aircraft they’re on.

  • Booking confirmations – a booking of yours is made, changed or canceled, by you or by anyone else. The email carries a calendar invitation. This switch also covers maintenance being scheduled over one of your bookings.
  • Reminders before you fly – one of your bookings is coming up. How far ahead is set in the hangar’s booking rules.
  • No-shows – you didn’t check out for a booking and it was marked a no-show.
  • Standby came free – a slot you queued for is now yours. See Join the standby list.

Hangar admins also see:

  • Anyone’s bookings – another member’s booking is made, changed or canceled. Off unless you turn it on.
  • Aircraft running late – a checked-out aircraft’s booking is about to end, or has ended, and it’s still out.
  • Subscription and billing – about what the hangar pays RampMates, such as a trial ending or a failed payment. Email only.

Email goes to your account’s email address. Push goes to the devices listed under Devices at the bottom of the page, and Remove takes one off. A web browser never appears in that list, so if it says no devices are registered, email is how RampMates reaches you.

Want your bookings in your own calendar instead of in email? Your bookings in your own calendar, on the same page, sets that up. See Put bookings in your calendar.

  • Save stays grayed out. Nothing has changed since the last save.
  • A switch is on but nothing arrives. Check your spam folder first, then see I didn’t get an email.
  • You still get a message about a hangar after turning it off. You probably changed another hangar’s settings. Each email names its hangar at the bottom; compare it with the hangar named at the top of the page.
