Change your name, email, password or photo
For: Pilots · Hangar admins · Mechanics
pilotadminmechanicYour account is where you change your name, the email address you sign in with, your password and your photo. It’s the same in every hangar you belong to – change your name once and every hangar sees the new one.
To open it, press your name and photo at the bottom of the sidebar. On a phone, open the More tab and press your name (the row reads Your account under it).

Each part has its own button, and saving one doesn’t touch the others.
Change your name
Section titled “Change your name”- Type the new name in Display name. It’s how you appear in the logbook, on the schedule and to your hangars.
- Press Save name. Saved. appears beside the button.
Save name stays grayed out while the box is empty or unchanged – a name can’t be blank.
Change your email address
Section titled “Change your email address”The address you sign in with, and where RampMates sends your notifications and password resets. It changes only once you’ve proved the new address is yours, so a typo can’t lock you out.
- Under Email, press Change email.
- Type the address in New email, and your current password in Your password.
- Press Send link. A green note says where the link went, and that your address stays the old one until you open it.
- In the new address’s inbox, open Confirm your new RampMates email address and press Confirm email address. It works even on a device where you aren’t signed in.
- When you see Email updated, sign in with the new address from now on. Your password stays the same, and you stay signed in wherever you are.
At the same time, your old address gets Your RampMates email address change – a heads-up with no link in it. If you didn’t ask for the change, nothing happens unless the link sent to the new address is opened; change your password so whoever asked can’t try again.
The link expires after 24 hours, and it works only once. Ask for a second one and whichever you open first wins; the other stops working.
Change your password
Section titled “Change your password”- Under Password, type your Current password.
- Type the new one in New password and again in Confirm new password. It needs at least 8 characters.
- Press Change password. Password changed. appears under the button.
You stay signed in where you are. Everywhere else you were signed in – another browser, your phone – is signed out and needs the new password. Its next action fails with “Your password changed – sign in again”.
RampMates also emails you Your RampMates password was changed. If you get that and it wasn’t you, press Go to sign in in it, then Forgot password?, to take the account back. See Reset your password.
Forgotten your current password? You can’t change it here – sign out and reset it instead.
Add or remove your photo
Section titled “Add or remove your photo”Your photo shows beside your name to everyone in your hangars. Without one, RampMates shows your initials.
- Under Photo, press Upload photo (Change photo once you have one).
- Pick a JPEG, PNG or WebP image. It’s saved as soon as you pick it.
RampMates crops the photo to a square from its center, and keeps only the picture – not the date, the camera or where it was taken.
To go back to your initials, press Remove photo.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- “Your current password is incorrect.” The password box doesn’t match the one you sign in with. If you’ve forgotten it, sign out and reset it.
- “Another account already uses that email address.” Someone else signs in with that address, so it can’t be yours as well. This can also appear when you open the link, if the address was taken in the meantime.
- “That’s already your email address.” Nothing to change.
- “Couldn’t confirm your email”, with “This link has expired or has already been used.” The link has expired, has already worked, or your address has changed since it was sent. Your address hasn’t changed; press Change email again for a new link.
- The confirmation email doesn’t arrive. Check the new address’s spam folder, and that you typed the address right – the green note names where it went. See I didn’t get an email.
- “The new passwords don’t match.” The two new-password boxes differ; type both again.
- “Use a JPEG, PNG or WebP image.” or “That file isn’t an image we can read.” Pick a photo in one of those formats.
- “File too large”. The photo is over the size limit the message gives; pick a smaller one.
- “Could not send the confirmation email”. RampMates couldn’t send the link, so nothing has changed. Try again in a few minutes.
